THE GOLDFIELDS.

SHAREMARKET. BUSINESS DONE—

• I MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. i May Queen Fxteuded. — The crosscut to the shaft is in _!3ft from the main level. At 21ft solid quartz was struck, showing heavy i blocky mineral, and a few colours of gold . This quartz has beeu cut into 2ft 6iu. and it , appears to be the east aud west reef; probably the main portiou of the Rocky Point. The mineralised portion is beiug saved for i crushing. The country is interlaced with , mineral seams. Victoria.—The ore coming to hand from ; the stopes above No. 2 level shows colours of gold, and a few pounds of stone were t selected during the week. In the drive . freui the seaward end. two stopes have been started over the same. With the exception of a little of tbe lead breaking away with • lhe shots (which show colours of gold), no , quartz has been brokcu. Iv the • leading slope over the drive hilhvard, the quartz carries a good class of mineral. A lead 3in • wide has been cut in the crosscut from the j hangingwall of No. 2 reef hillward. The quartz is rather white, but is in good coun--1 try. I Kurauui-Caiedonian.— No. 1 crosscut" is in : 682 ft. A 2iu leader was cut since last report, and the country has improved con- • siderably, and the manager is now in hopes • that if another leader is cut it will be gold ■ bearing. There is a considerable improvement in No. 7 reef at No. 1 level. It is now a solid body of ore about 18in thick and carries very favourable minerals. From its favourable appearance the manager would not be surprised to meet with gold In this reef. Hendersons leader at No 1 ■ level appears to be making again. Whiti ley's leader at No. 3 level shows a little gold , each breaking down, which looks promising when it junctions with the Cambria reef. In the leading stope colours and blotches of gold have been seen freely, and , a few pieces of picked stone have come to hand. JS-uninul.—u No. 2 stope east at the Intermediate level the leader maintains its size and the stone will be put through the mill during next week. The debris from the old stopes is being tracked to the mill which is being overhauled, aud 10 head of stampers will be started in a few days. Halycon.— In the new level the country is very Arm, but on account of the back portion being surface ground it requires Umbering. When tbe level is further advanced it is the manager's intention to teep both that work and the operations iv the rise in progress at the same time. -
