MOTIONS MUST BE PUT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An important decision was given today by Mr Justice Cooper in the case Corporation of Dannevirke v. The Mayor of Dannevirke, an action for a mandamus to compel the Mayor to put certain motions to the Council which he had refused to do. His Honor held that the action of the Mayor in relation to the two motions was ultra vires. He made an order for a writ of mandamus, and allowed fourteen days for -notice' of appeal. • If notice of appeal is given, proceedings will be stayed pending thd Court of Appeal's decision, * /^°
