ELECTRIC WIRE BREAKS.

INJURES A HORSE AND FIRES A HOUSE.

A rather serious accident occurred at the corner of Dominion-road on Saturday, as the result of the fusing of one lof the tramway wires. A 'bus was standj ing at the corner and the live wire fell ! across one of the horses, with serious j though not fatal results- But the damage-, idid not "end here, a fire breaking out in jthe People's Supply Stores, occupied by Messrs. Burton and Gash. The flames were extinguished . without the assistance of the fire brigade, I I but not before the stock had suffered ; from damage by water and a considerable . hole had been burnt through the floor. . The manner in which the fire broke out . inside the building is somewhat mysterious, but as the flames were centred . round a gas pipe it is thought that the I current may have run along the pipe i and ignited some small gas leak.
