Hosier with his brother-in-law, Hugh Kyle Dunn, supernumerary warder at Pentridge, owing to the impression of the former that the latter was ill-treating his wife. Apparently last night Dunn visited Rosier, or. friendly terms, and the two were conversing together in the front room, the only other person in the house being Mrs Rosier, who was in the hack room. Suddenly she heard the report of a gun, and rushing into tfie front room found Dunn lying prostrate, with a gaping wound in the region of the heart, and Rosier standing near by in an excited condition, witb the gun in his hands. A police sergeant was called in. and. on examining Dunn's body, found that his watch had stopped at seven minutes to eight, and that a glass in the room had been shattered by the shot. Rosier has been arrested, and is now in the lockup at Elsternwick. The gun found in his possession is a doublebarrelled breech-loader.
