GREEN SENTENCED TO DEATH. SYDNEY, June 11. The young man Green has been sentenced to death for the murder of a girl near Maitland, in April, but recommended to mercy on the ground of insanity. On lApril 15 the body of a young girl named Lilian Bridge, aged 16 years, daughter of William Bridge, dairyman, was discovered in a paddock near her residence. Her head was fearuflly battered, and her throat was cut from ear to ear. The girl left her home about seven o'clock to go to see her sister, who is in service at Mr. W. C. Green's, but she never reached there, and was evidently murdered shortly after she left I the house. She was struck on the head with a blunt instrument, dragged some distance, attacked again, and then dragged further along, and an attempt was made to sever her head from her body. A young man named Frederick Davis Green was arrested, and a bloodstained pocket knife was found in i£s pocket. ,
