WAIHI, this day. A conference of the delegates of the Political Labour League and tbe Waihi Miners' Union combined was held last evening, when several matters In connection with politics were fully discussed. A motion favouring the abolition of the sale of Crown Lands was proposed by Mr Rogers, and carried, together with the condltionary proposition that no lease should be for longer than 50 years. I Mr Campbell presided at the half-yearly meeting of the Pride of Waihi Lodge of Druids. The election of officers, after a keen contest, resulted as follows:—A.D., Bro. W. Bo*: V.A.D., Bro. Polkinghorne; secretary. Bro. J. Box (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. Hunter (re-elected): 1.G., Bro. Ernest; A.D.B.'s, Bros. Jackson and Gregory; V.A.D.'s, Bros. Robinson and Wolles; auditor, Bro. Ritchie; minute secretary, Bro. Hanson. The newly-elected officers were Installed by D.P. Bro. Field. In the Police Court yesterday Jas. Payne, late of Wairongomai and Waihi. was charged that, having received the sum of £13 19/ on terms requiring him to pay the same to Thomas Bnrk. engine fitter, of Waihi, he did fraudulently omit to do so. On the application of Sergeant McKlnnon.the amount was reduced to £13 2/, and a remand was granted until the 17th mat. to obtain evidence from Auckland. Ball was refused.
