The annual convention of no-license ! workers in this and surrounding elector- ! ates was opened in the Baptist Church i this afternoon. a T oout 100 delegates ati tending. The Sev. J. J. Lewis ( Palmersi ton North) welcomed the delegates, and • introduced tie business of tie ccnven- ! tion. Tie Rev. Frank HcDonald ( Palni- ' erston North) read a paper entitled "Per- ' sonal Work and Influence." An educaI tional discussion followed, and speeches ] were delivered by tie Rev. B. H. Ginger I (WoodviHe), Mr. Townsend, Mr. Neal (Feilding). ilr. Byron Brown (Otaki), Mr. Carson (Wanganui), Mr. Jackson (Masiertoff). and others. Mr. R. W. Neal (FeUding) read tie second paper, "The Best Methods of Purging the Boll." The Rev. W. J. Williams (Wellington) opened the discussion and congratulated tie promoters of tie convention on the practical and vital subjects of the programme. At 5.30 a public tea was held m tie Presbyterian HaE, and at eight o'clock a mass meeting took place in tie Municipal Hall, presided over by Mr. Byron Brown, a candidate for tie Otaki seat at tie seneral election. Among the speakers were Mrs. W J.Wiliams (Sister Olive, the Eev. F. W. Isitt, and the Rev. W. J. Elliott.
