CONTEMPT OF COURT.
I ■ i BAILIFF EJECTED FROM RAILWAY WORKSHOPS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. The question of whether a Government servant, while employed in a Government building, is immune from embarrassing attentions of a bailiff armed with a judgment summons tame up at the Court to-day. A .judgment debtor was employed in the railway workshops, and the Court bailiff, who had gone to serve a summons on those* premises, had been put off by the manager of the works. The Magistrate said he "had considerefl it his duty to report the matter to the Minister for Justice, as lie was not going to have the officials of the Court treated with discourtesy. An impression prevails that Government servants cannot be served with writs while engaged at their business, and the decision of the Minister on the point should prove of some value.
A grazing run of 10,350 acres, near the township of Taupo, was opened for lease at the Crown Lands Office to-day.
