(To the Editor.) Sir, —Your correspondent in last night's issue, Mr. Gunner No. 3, of the Garrison Artillery, champions the Young GunneiBoy as having to bear with the noise from the firing of the heavy guns, against the unfortunate sick and dying people of Devonport. Why, sir, since writing to you last a large and popular house and land agent has had the windows of his house shattered to pieces, and he tells mc he has no redress against the Government for the damage done. As "Canadian Lady" said, the whole thing is just a the sooner it is put a stop to the~better. One t>f your correspondents says this heavy firing only occurs three or four times a year, but during the four months I have been a resident of Devonport, it has occurred on at least a dozen separate occasions. I myself am writing to the Minister of Defence, enclosing a copy of my letter, and telling him if he does not immediately take steps to have the nuisance stopped the voice of a public meeting may require him to do so. Hoping that things may soon be remedied at the lovely marine suburb, Devonport.—l am, etc., JAMES W. TAYLOR, M.A.
