MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. 1 Mount Zeehan.—The low level is In t solid body of quartz, difficult to break. The reef is lying very flat, and will likely prove to be No. 2 reef. The quartz is of a kindly nature, and carrying some good minerals. Stopped sinking winze at junction of Birthday and No. 2 lodes, owing to heavy flo* of water. Kiri Kiri.—The North Drive has been extended 12ft. total 83ft. The reef will be broken down on Tuesday. The country that wiis passed through is a good class for gold,, and is carrying splendid mineral seams. The rise has been further extended oft. total oSft. The south drive off rise has been driven b'ft. Size of reef. 16in thick. When breaking down a few colours of gold were seen, and the reef looks very promising. Will start driving north on Tuesday next, to open up a block of ground for crushing. Tairua Triumph.—The low level crosscut has been extended 15ft for the week, another four feet being required to complete No. 3 contract, or a total of three hundred feet. From this point the level will be diverted to a more westerly direction, which will have the effect of cutting the No. 2 reef in much less driving than if continued on present course, though the point of intersection will be further from the workings at No. 2 level, a greater length having to be driven along course of reef southward to get under same. In the drive the country continues its favourable character. A commencement has been made with the eastern crosscut (off low level) to intersect the No. 3 reef, two men being employed. Another shift will be put on in a day or two. Phoenix.—The rich ore was met with driving hill ward from the shaft at a point 20ft down, and just above water level. The lode has been driven on for 10ft in a northwesterly direction. It is somewhat difficult to tell the exact width, as there are so many cross veins and fiinties sticking into it. but the manager is quite satisfied that it is highly payable for a width of three feet while from four to six inches is rich sulphide ore. Colours of gold are freely seen at each br"nking down. The drive ou the lode from the shaft is in 18ft. Good sulphide ore is showing in the face. The 40it level has been cleaned out for a distance of 50ft. There is also good sulphida ore to be seen in this level.
