CITY DRAINAGE SCHEME.
The Grey Lynn Borough Council met in committee last night to consider resolutions submitted from the conference of local bodies re the Auckland drainage scheme. Upon resuming the Council adopted the following resolution passed hy the Council in committee:— "CD That this Council adopts the drainape cheme as laid down in the reports of Mr irtrMev Tavlor and the city engineer." "(?) That"it assents to the constructing of +hp work of the main outfall sewer by the St* authorities, the city having the future and maintenance of the mam outit agrees to connect its main icwer to the main outfall sewer, and to wticnlate the Grey Lynn district with the "necessary branch sewers, as may be required, in conformity with the general orinciples of the scheme, and to the satisfaction of the city engineer." •*fl) That it agrees to near its proportion nf the cost of the said outfall sewer, and of the worts immediately connected therewith." (This clause was deferred until further information is received :;s to cost.) "(S> That the basis of allocating the cost , main outfall sewer and other works md matters connected with the scheme, «wnmon to all local bodies participating therein be determined by three non-resident . commissioners appointed by the Government": and "(6) That it agrees that the city solicitor take in hand the drafting of a bill to place before Parliament at its nest session, containing the provisions necessary to enable effect to be given to the drainage scheme, aad to advise the committee from time to time on any matter which may arise in connection therewith:" and "that the bill be submitted to this Council for approval or otherwise." ' The last clause. "That the common seal of the body corporate, of the llayor. councillors. and burgesses of the Borough of Grey Lynn was hereunto affixed this day of April, J3OB, in the presence of," was deferred. At last night's meeting of the Mt, Jgden Borough Council, the Mayor reported that the details of the drainage question were still being elaborated by the conference of representatives from local bodies, and a basis of contributions had been formulated. "Under this proposal," the ilayor added, "Mount Eden will be the lowest rated borough in i&nckland."
