POST AND TELEGRAPH CHANGES.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. | The following changes in the Post and Telegraph Department are amongst those announced by the Postmaster-General: Mr. J. L. H. Ledger, assistant-controller of money orders and savings banks and : assistant-accountant, General Post Office, j Wellington, to be V-ontroller of money 1 oraers and savings ba-iks and accountant, General Post Office, Wellington; Mr. H. A. R. Huggins, first clerk and accountants' clerk, General Post Office, Wellington, to be , assistant-controller of money orders and savings banks and assistantaccountant, General Post Office, Wellington; Mr. R. B. Morris, assistant-post-master, Wellington, to be inspector of savings banks; Mr. E. C. Gannaway, chief mail clerk, Wellington, to be .assistantpostmaster, Wellington; Mr. R. Booth, senior check clerk, Auckland, to be assis-tant-offieer-in-charge, Telegraph Office, Nelson; Mr, H. G. Turner,, second clerk, Thames, to be postmaster, Devonport; Mr. M. B. Esson, telegraphist, Dannevirke, tohe'senior telegraphist, Thames;, Mr. R. Martin, telegraphist, Auckland, to be relieving postmaster, Auckland district; Air C. Ansell, check clerk, Wanganui, to be senior telephone exchange clerk, Auckland; Mr. W. McHutcheson, chief postmaster, Timaru, to be promoted to chief postmaster, lnvercorgill, and Mr. H. W. Capper, chief postmaster, Invercaigill, to be transferred to Timaru, which office is also being raised in status.

The Invercargill post office is to be raised to the first rank. The status of the Palm-eraton North post office has. also been raised. Under the new arrangement Palmerston North will be a savings bank centre; enabling withdrawals to be made direct from that office.
