In view of the fact that north of Auckland attention is being paid to the mining of antimony for export to London, it is of interest to learn that a new way of producing "star antimony" has been invented by Mr. Frank Cotton, of Sydney, which it is claimed produces the high grade article at one-tenth the cost of the oid process. Economy of time in treatment of the ore is also claimed for the new invention, added to which it is •stated that the fumes are conducted into special condensers and converted into an oxide, which can also be transformed into "star metal."
