THE LICENSING BILL.

Government will Fuco the Clamour* LONDON, April 2. Mr. George Cave (Conservative member for Kingston Division of Surrey) will, in the House of Commons on Monday, move the rejection of the Licensing Bill, on the ground that it fails to promote temperance and violates the principle of equity. Mr. H. H. Asquith (Chancellor of the Exchequer), addressing the London United Liberal Association, said, the Government accepted the challenge in regard to the Licensing Bill, and was quite prepared to face the clamour. Gilt-edged securities, Mr. Asquith declared, had risen since the bill was introduced, showing that the Government's policy was not considered as rapine and plunder.
