COX'S CREEK DRAINAGE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, — year, with the assistance of ninety residents within the city boundary of Cox's Creek, I presented to our City Councillors the desire that we may have, say, a 24in. pipe carrying the drainage lof Cox's Creek to low-water mark. Our I request did not meet with the approval it deserved, because the big scheme was under consideration. This consideration lis the part that I wish to draw your I serious attention to. During the last i few weeks five cases of typhoid have occurred—one is a most distressing one, as both husband and wife have been sent to the Auckland Hospital almost together. All the cases mentioned arc quite near to this dirty creek. Now, Sir, your valuable assistance has been the means of accomplishing the clearing of some parts of our beautiful city. On behalf of these ninety residents, \\b desire your assistance to accomplish the abolition of a filthy, dangerous spot.—l am, etc., F. W. CHALMEES.
