TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Trades and Labour ■Council took place last night, Mr: A. Rosser (president) occupying the chair. There was a good attendance of delegates. Complaint Against Hospital Authorities.—A letter from the Secretary of the Hospital Board referred to the case of Miss E. Walton, whose discharge from the Hospital had been made the subject of comment by the Council at a previous meeting. After investigation, the Board decided that there was no ground for complaint against any of the Hospital officials. A copy of a letter from thS young lady's father to a member of the Board was enclosed, in which he regretted, the publicity which had been given to his daughter's case ttoough "some people not minding their own business." Mr. Henry, the original mover in the matter, moved for the postponement of the matter for a fortnight, in order that he might produce documentary evidence in proof of his assertions. His action, he contended, was for the benefit of humanity and in the interests of the sick. and ailing of the community. It was agreed by the Council to defer the matter. A Tramway Matter. —According to a letter received from the manager of the Tramway Company, the carriage of perambulators and go-carts, unless collapsible, is prohibited on the cars.
