TARANAKI RAILWAY EXTENSION.

I ; » CBy Telesraph.—Own Correspondent.) STRATFORD, this day. Since January of this year the railway Department has taken, over from the Public Works Department twelve miles of railway in Taranaki. To-day another section (Huiroa) of the Stratford-Onga-rue railway is open for traffic, making the distance completed from the Stratford End sixteen miles. The first sod of this railway was turned by the" Hon. EfiJl-Jones afcout six years ago. The Railway Department also to-day takes over the Waipuku-Egmont branch line, which is a six mile section. There is a large crushing plant erected at the terminus of this section, which will supply the Railway Department with ballast and local bodies with metal for road purposes.
