MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Tairna Triumph.—The No. 3 (or low)' level crosscut has been continued tuning the past week, this being the pcmcipal work in progress at present. The country, though being of a firm nature, has improved, being now free from the bard bands of flinty formation which rendered progress somewhat difficult. Should there be any intervening leaders between present face and No. 2 reef (present country continuing), I should expect them to be gold bearing. This crosscut is now in 240 ft, but manager does not anticipate meeting with No. 2 reef for at least another 100 ft Champion.—The battery level is in 95ft The only change of importance since last report is that country rock appears to be making in the bottom of the drive. The country is ryolite sandstone, and the pug seams intersecting the country give very fair dish prospects. Five samples sxe being assayed at the Thames School of Mines. Whatever these results may be, they are taken with object as a guide as to what may be looked for during the progress of the tunnel. There is no doubt as to this being a highly auriferous zone of' country, and the indications so far are of a distinctly encouraging nature, despite the broken nature of the country so far penetrated. The presence of coarse gold both in the loose rubble and in the stone itself is a good feature. There has been a decided improvement in the progress of the battery contract during the past week. The team of bullocks has commenced hauling machinery from the creek to the- battery site. The- contractor estimates to have the-whole of the machinery at the battery site within four to sis weeks from date. In the meantime cosaereting and erection can be pushed ahead.

W-iota-d.—So. 6 level: The drive ess. on j the Maxmer reef is in 39ft from the crossI cut, and during the week an improvement has taken place. A rib. of quartz in the footwall about- 6in in width has shown some j good. dabs and colours of gold, a few pieces lof which could be classed as picked stone. Going west we have driven 55ft from the crosscut or nearly to the boundary, but as I the. country is broken and there is no sign [of the reef on the other side of the break driving has been stopped in this direction. In the No. 2 rise on the footwall dropper no work has been done during the week. Cure I reef: The eighth ■ stope >>*« been carried 33ft west of the rise, and good dabs and I colours of gold have been seen in the quartz broken. No. 5 level: The falling in of the stope under the No. 4 rise on the main reef has been completed, and a third stope has been started. From the rise on the dropper above this level the leading stope has been carried east to its payable point, and a second stope has now been commenced. No. 4 level: The stopes ou the main reef above this level are in progress, from which payable quartz is coming to hand. No. 3 level: Stoping out the block under the floor of this level on the Imperial City reef is in progress, aud good crushing dirt continues to come to hand. Cleaning up for the month will take place on Tuesday. Mt. Zeehan. — The low level drive has been advanced a further distance of Sit for the week. The country for the last few feet is of a milder nature. We cut a small leader, about one inch iv thickness, also a good flow of water, which is generally a sign that the reef system is close at hand. Watchman. —. No. 1 winze has .been sunk 54ft on the Silver Brown reef, and driving has been started in a north-east directioii. The reef looks well and still maintains its kind appearance. The Windfall reef is somewhat smaller, being about sft in [width, and as the prospects are payable, the quartz is being saved for treatment. Koyal Oak.—The annual meeting of shareholders of the Royal Oak G.M. Company lapsed to-day for want of a quorum. The directors, iv their half-yearly report, stated that during the period named the principal mining operations have been carried on by | the company; the amount of tribute work done having been less than usual. The development work on the Cross leader has resulted in payable ore being won, together with picked stone being got, and they are pleased to be able to Report that these conditions sHTI obtain. Work here is in proj gress with a view to mining below the | original drive put in, and as far as can be ascertained the ground both below and above is intact. The directors who retire by rotation are Messrs. H. T. Gbrrie and R. Mitchelson. and they, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election. Mr. F. L. Prime again offers his services as auditor. The statement of accounts showed the assets to be £7572 3/3, made up by £6432 11/10, mine property and development; £950 1/8, for plant; £16 5/7, cash in bank and on hand; and £173 4/2, debts due to the company.
