TUAKAD, March. 20. CATIiOLIC SUNDAY-SCHOOL PICNIC. Tliu annual Catholic Sunday-school picnic was held on Saturday, March 14, in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Mr. Madill, senr. The arrangements, which were in the hands of a committee of ladies, Rev. Father Kehoe, in a neat speech, made were admirably carried out- There was a large attendance of the public, and the i.fternoon was enjoyably spent in various games aud children's sports. The l'ukekohe brass band rendered numerous selections at intervals, which were very much appreciated by those present. In the evening a social was held in the Literary Hall, when its accommodation was taxed to the utmost. During the evening the choir of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic tion to their teacher, Mrs. ti.-Hunter, the gift taking the shape of a case of silvermounted brushes, suitably inscribed. The the presentation, and Mr. Jas. Madill suitably responded on behalf of Mrs. Hunter. The remainder of the evening was spent in songs, recitations, dances, etc., until eleven o'clock, when supper was served, after which everyone dispersed for their homes, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
