INADEQUATE VOLUNTEER EQUIPMENT. (Received 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The annual report of the InspectorGeneral of military forces refers to the inadequate "treating of troops, shortage of men, and equipment and defects in field artillery. He adds that the keen spirit of the men is the most admirable feature of the situation. The n>sut>ership of rifle clubs lias increased from 39,587 to 45,293. The House adopted a resolution moved by Mr. Fisher, leader of the Labour party, that the passing of Federal Old Age Pensions was an urgent public duty, and should be proceeded with during the present session. The Government and Opposition being both favourable, Mr. Deakin promised to introduce a bill next month. QUEENSLAND CONSTITUTION DISPUTE. (Received 10.15 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The Assembly adopted the Address-in Reply. The Governor, in accepting the reply, acknowledged the expression of opinion on the constitutional question, and said he would forward it to the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
