AN ALARMING SALUTE.

NEW YORK, March 18. When the British cruiser Indefatigable arrived at Port Experience, in Hayti, she fired the customary salute. This caused intense excitement among the natives, who feared that a bombardment had begun. This incident saved the execution of Lieutenant Larraque, one of the alleged rebels. "The New York Herald" states that the refugees from Gonaives, including Fermin, are on board the French cruiser Destrees. New York advices also state that the Powers have threatened to depose President Alexis and create a provisional government, and have expressed disapproval of further executions.
U.S. WARSHIPS ORDERED TO SCENE.
NEW YORK, March 18. The United States warships Desmomes and Eagle nave been ordered to Hayti.
