MINE MANAGER'S REPORT. Magnet.—The main reef averages l."»in. and the quartz has a kindly appearance, • carryiug excellent mineral indications. In the "rise the reef averages 3ft, and strata- ' mata aud Iron pyrites are seen freely dls- j tributed through the stone. The stringer formation has been prospected, and a few colours o£ gold were seen. Golden Cross.—Satisfactory progress has been made with the western crosscut, south section, and the lode should be met with in another 30ft. The chaunel of country is of the right class. Reliance. —Tho crosscut has passed I through Fox's reef, which is luiu thick, and gold bearing. Tairua Broken Hills.—ln the main low level j;oocl country is beiug penetrated, lit the drive north there is no improvement in No. 1 reef. Stoning is being carried on as usual, aud produces ore of fair grade. Mount Zeehan. —Mr Mountain, surveyor, came down on Tuesday, and changed the course of the low level, so as to cut the reef where the good values were got at the junction of the No. 2 aud Birthday reefs. The distance from plug in drive to point laid down at surface is 140 ft. This drive is now in a distance of Oft beyond the plug. The country continues of a very hard nature, making progress slow. (iolden Belt. —In No. 1 level south the reef formation is still small and poor. Work iv the face will be stopped for a while to allow the putting up of rises at intervals along the level to test the reef ou its upward course. The drive north is passing ■ through old workings, but another few feet should' reach solid country again. On the new reel' in the south-west portion, an old drive has been previously opened up, which is in 6Uft. This In places is 10ft wide, anil no walls showing. Samples have been taken, which give very good dish prospects: but so far the assays have not given such good results. The manager hopes to start crushing almost immediately. Kuranui-Caledonian.—The north crosscut at No. 1 level is in 009 ft. The body of ore 7ft wide mentioned in my last is a north and south lode where it crosses the drive, so the manager thinks it advisable to stop the crosscut for the present and drive uorth on this ore body. If it keeps ..- present course it will act as a crosscut, and prove the lode at the same time. In the present face of the crosscut a mineralised stringer. 2in or 31n thick, has been cut. which should junction with the 7ft reef about 10ft north of the present starting point. The drive on Kelly's reef at No. 1 level is in 196 ft east of the crosscut. At this point we holed through to the work- I ings on Kelly's reef, which gives splendid j ventilation. Some of the ore in the main portion of this reef looks very promising. I and will be tested, as a large block of it Is standing intact over this level, which, if payable, could be worked to advantage from this drive. Rising Sun.—The ur.ve north in the main < level tea !>e«n extended a furiher distance i

of 6ft, and a crosscut has been started into the western side. The oil engine has been working satisfactorily, but we have had to stop in order to Jay pipes through to the surface to carry off the fumes. The ore is being carted to the battery, and we should be ready to start crashing in a few days. THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD. The Thames Drainage Board met this afternoon. Hon. E. Mitchelson occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs S. Hesketh, G. S. KissUng, A. Burns, W. Gorrie, and H. T. Gorrie. The engineer in charge of the Thames Hauraki pump in his report stated that It had been necessary to connect another boiler, making five now in use. During the past week a little more water had been struck in the shaft. The coal consumption for the month, reported the manager of the pumping works, was 4i>2 tons, and expenses for the month were £9OS 2/1. The Thames Borough Council forwarded an intimatiou that that body's contribution to the Board's funds would be the same as last year. In the hearing of appeals against assessments before the warden, the chairman was deputed to represent the Board. PAEROA WARDEN'S COURT. (By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, this day.
