The French hospital transport Nive has been wrecked on the Moroccan coast. Communication with the shore was I established by means oE the rocket apparatus, and by this means the whole of those on board at the time of the disaster, 240 in number, were got ashore in safety. LOXDOX. January 7. The Anglo-American Oil Company's steamer Honsatonic, laden with a cargo of petroleum, struck Marden Rocks, off North East Island. The rocket apparatus was used, but it set fire to the ship, and I the crew made a hasty escape from the j burning vessel with her explosive freight in the ship's beats. They had hardly got clear of the steamer when a terrific explosion occurred, the vessel being shattered from stem to stern by the terrific force generated. The boats reached the island, and all on board lanied safely, with the exception of two, who were drowned. I
