The waterside workers of Auckland will hold their first annual picnic at Motutapu to-morrow, and from the general interest manifested by those engaged along the waterfront, the outing should prove, given only fine weather, in every sense successful. A long and varied programme of events for old and • young has been arranged by the committee responsible, the trophies, in addition to those provided out of the funds for the purpose, including liberal donations from the different shipping and business firms. One of the features promised is the baby show, to be divided into three classes, each holding three handsome prizes for competition. The day will be observed by the shipping people generally as much a holiday as is found practicable. The s.s. Kestrel will leave with the first contingent of picnickers at half-past nine, while other boats will follow v-> tai L3O Dja.
