(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WHANGAKEI, Friday. The official dedication of the new hall belonging to the Whangarei Lodge of the Man- ' Chester Unity of Oddfellows was conductea i on Thursday evening. The District Officers, I Bro. W. A. Parker, l'rov. (iJU..; JBro. J. Mc- ; Leodv C. Bee; and Bro. W. , Thomas, ■ : P.P.G.M., wer in attendance, and there were i I also present about 60 officials and brethrfn : lof various lodges. 'Whangarei members I were very largely .in evidence, and the following sister lodios were represented:— Loyal Pambula Lodge, N.S. W.; Loyal Hot Springs Lodge, Te Aroha; Loyal Hlknrangl Lodgp; Loyal Parnell Lodge; Loyal Fountain of Friendship LoSge, Auckland; Loyal I Good Intent Lodge, Auckland; Loyal Walj kato Lodge: Loyal Duke of Cambridge Lodge, Loyal Mercy Lodge, Tasmania; and Loyal Glsborne Lodge. An object of historical interest was the framed lodge emblem which was painted by Bro. K. C. Jenkins, the first noble grand of the Whangarei Lodge. Bro. Jenkins, who is commonly known among the members as the " father of the lodge," is now considerably over 70 years of age, and his connection with the ! order dates back to the year 1844, when he 1 was initiated as n member of the Lodge j ■ Shakespeare, Birmingham. After the cere- ! mony a nnmbr •of toasts wer honoured,! and musical items were contributed by Bros. ; Massey, Eccles, Bruce, Parker and MiddleI ton.. Bro. Parker, Prov. G.M., nrged the In-1 i dustrinl members to do their utmost in the ! Interests of the institution. Bro. McLeou, ' ; C.S., commented on the occasion as a red- : letter day In the history of the Order in ! Auckland province. As a remarkable evi-' dence of the beneficial "effects of friendly i societies, he pointed out that there was not i one member of any/brder among the Inmates lof Auckland Old Men's Home.
