RAILWAY COLLISION.
IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. SEYERAi PERSONS INJURED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) ADELAIDE, October 25. A serious railway collision has taken place at Gawler. A Port Pirie train, with two engines attached, was entering the station, when it ran into a stationary goods .train. Came, the driver of the goods train, was thrown out and badly injured on the head, and the wheels passed over his leg, necessitating amputation. Crighton, the guard of the passenger train, had two ribs broken- Several others were slightly injured. The passengers received a severe shock, and one was taken to "the hospital. Miss Russell,'a daughter of Commissioner Russell, was severely cut about the head. A special train with nurses and doctors was speedily. sent to the scene, and afforded relief.' The damage to rolling-stock is heavy. Three engines were considerably smashed, and a number of trucks and carriages were badly damaged. (•Received 10.47 a.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. The South Australian railway accident was due to the action of a porter, in a moment of haste, in not setting the points properly.
