WAIHI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TVAIHI, Thursday. At the monthly meeting of the Borough Council, held to-night, the manager of Uie National Bank advised a credit of £1601 17/7, the amount received from the Government as gold duty for the month of September. Declarations were also received regarding the purchase of 1G,&460z of gold within the borough. A letter was received from the general manager of railways, intimating that there was no present "intention of making any alteration in the ex'stim; service betweeu Morrinsville aud Thames. A further communication was also received stating the objection to the extension of the railway to the East End. It yvas decided that the bowling greeu should be opened for play on Saturday, 2nd November. Accounts amounting to £1203 were passed for payment.
