A Crown lands ballot was held at the local office to-day, under the supervision of Mr. R. McKenzie, Commissioner of Crovvn lands. A section adjoining the railway line near Otorohanga, and consisting of 328 acres, attracted no fewer than 375 applicants, and Mr. 0. Connell was successful. The other ballot was for 4S acres at Whungape. There were 12 applicants for this selection, which was secured by Mr. E. Yates. The land was taken up under the optional clause.
