A DOMAIN SENSATION.

SUPPOSED ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE.

What appears to be a case of attempted suicide was reported to the police by a Grammar School boy named Richard Crawshaw, this afternoon. He and two school companions were walking through the Domain near the Parnell Tunnel during the luncheon hour when suddenly they heard a shot, and upon hastening in the direction from which it proceeded, they found a man lying on the ground and groaning heavily. He appeared to be covered with blood, but the boys did not investigate very closely, but immediately ran to the nearest telephone and rang up the police station.

From a letter that has reached the police, it is feared that the act is a deliberate attempt of suicide on the part of a well known business man of Auckland, the communication in question being to his landlady, »nd informing her of his intention to commit the rash act of suicide, together with the intimation that his body would be found in the Domain.
