DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

deputation had waited on the Devouport Ferry Company in regard to amendments to the time-table, and as a result It had been decided to make several minor alterations. It was decided to thank the company for moeting the residents in their request.^.
Coal Contract.—The following tenders were received for the snpply of conl to the Takapuua pumping"-statt6n: "VV." Easuownj Hikurangi ami N&ungurn? , l!y 'per ton'ii JJ. Craig, KlripakaV'OS/G, -tand Northern or.. last-named for the Northern coal was accepted.
Rubbish Receptacle.—-On the recommendation of the Streets and Works Committee It was resolved that Dr. Purdy's suggestion in regard to rubbish receptacles be adopted, and that two galvanised iron ones be placed—one in Marine Square, and the other in King Edward Parade.
Vent Pipes.—lt was decided to adopt the Streets and Works Committee's recomresideuts who had on°tbelr properties vents which might be Injurious to lengthen such vent pipes to a height at which no nuisance could be occasioned. .. .
'Bus Fares. —Mr. F. Crabb, 'bus proprietor, intimated that owing to the high price of horsefeed, it would- be necessary to raise the fares on the Stanley Bay feerviee from 2d to 3d daily. Mr. Parsons, another proprietor, also notified that the fare to Cheltenham Beach, would also have to be similarly increased from 8 a.m. to 12 u.rn. The letters were referred to the Legal and Finance Committee for report.
Finance.—Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £170 8/4.
