MUTUAL AND CITIZENS.
Amalgamation Carried. SYDNEY, October 21. A special general meeting of the members of the Mutual Life Association confirmed the - resolution adopted at the meeting of September 18 in favour of amalgamating with the Citizens' Life Company. The- Chairman (Sir Norman Maclaurin) referred to the attempts made to stir jup opposition by the baseless assertion that the association was winding up. He had no hesitation in saying that no arrangements could have been made with any other office in Australasia which •Would have afforded members advantages equal -to - those ■ -which, this . agreement secured. With full consciousness of the responsibility resting upon him in doing so, he submitted the resolution for acceptance. He announced that they had received 5492 proxy votes in favour of amalgamation and 62 against. A show of hands was then taken, and the Chairman declared the voting as 108 in favour of the resolution and two against.
