TYPHOON IN THE CHINA SEA.
A STEAMER FOUNDERED. The steamer Aldenham, which'arrived at Port Darwin a few days ago, brought news that there' have been several, typhoons in the China Sea. The worst occurred on T3th September, when the wind blew with terrific force at Macao and Hong Kong. At Macao .considerable loss of. life and property occurred. It is started to have been the worst typhoon since 1874. • Over a dozen , Chinese were drowned at, Hong Kong, ; but good warning being given the shipping escaped almost unscathed. Several steamers • approaching Hong Kong, however, encountered the full fury of the storm, and aarrowly escaped destruction. It is feared that the German steamer Sulberg foundered. She was spoken outside Hong Kong.shortly before .the typhoon, but a search by the. German gunboat has. failed to reveal -any trace of her,
