WHANGAREI NEWS.
(By Telegraph".—Own Correspondent.) WHANUARKI, Friday. The Camera Club's first field-day, on Thursday, proved most enjoyable. The members assembled at the Town Wharf, and after proceeding up the river in three boats, led by the president, Mr. T. L. Drummond, the first landing was effected at Boathouse Creek, where a battery of cameras opened fire. The second landing was on Mt. Thompson's property. The river was then crossed, and the party -were eventually entertained at the residence of the club's pre-sl*-ht., The annual hospital ball was held in the Drill Shed last night. From four to five .hundred people assembled, and it Is anticipated that the sum-available for the hospital funds wUI equal; if not exceed, the last • returns. Mr. Moody's bund gave their ser-vices,-and played .'excellent music. A picture of Whangarei Heads, painted vy ■ Mr. Clark, and donated by the.artist, was ■sold by auction, the'price, with the subsidy, amounting to £5.
