Ponsonby. Mrs. Bain had been ailing for some months past, but her: sudden death was principally the, out-; come of a recent attack of influenza, which, added to other complications; was riiore than her constitution could stand. Deceased was' well-known- -in .private' musical circles as a good-musician,, but her failing health prevented her from -appearing in public. She was the daughter of the late Mr; James Cranston,.farmer, 1 of■" Cockburn Path, Berwickshire,' Scotland, and came .to'*.this'.colony from Fiji'about'2o years-ago.
