AS AUCKLAND NECESSITY.
(Xo the Editor.j Six—As there appears to be an impresdon that we have now sufficient ftnds to tufld and equip a proper ambulance station, kindly allow mc a small -mcc in your widely-read paper to correct that idea. We require two thou"sand pounds to buy a site and build a plain large room for a modern ambulance, •sitb. all appliances for promptly administering Krst Aid. The room would be used also as a lecture-room for those attending St. John Ambulance classes. Above the proposed room, there -would be accommodation for a properly qualified man and his family. Whilst the nan would he out with the Ambulance or Ashfoid Litter, his family would" be ready to answer the telephone, and give assistance to anyone desiring their help. Such a building is most urgently needed in a large city lite Auckland. It is not intended for a few chosen persons to be used like a private and luxurious club, bnt is for the use and comfort, in cases of accident, oi the whole community. The ladies who assisted on Ambulance Eaterday worked extremely hard in most •toclenreßt~sreather,aTid are very grateful - k the: splendid response of £ 450, al3o S the band performance, bnt they think fere are still some generous people who fflly require to have the need for further donations pointed out, to forward the Secretary a handsome contribution. Most earnestly then, I beg for assistance in the name of suffering humanity am, ett, L. FROST RATTRAY, Hon. Sec. Ladies' Committee. ' : PA—We could put up a very suitable eomplfite building for one thousand pounds, if some public-spirited person would donate a site.
