BOXING.
W. Murphy has returned to Auckland from Taranaki- He is very anxious to meet the winner of th e " match next month between Goelirey and Hanlev. Murphy says that he is in better health and form than for the past e'eht years, and claims that the title of featherweight champion still rightly belongs to him. At all events, he is anxious to prore that he can beat the best of them and absolutely refuses to be relegated to the has-been class.
Squires has gone under again; this time after nineteen punishing rounds He has evidently a lot to learn before he is capable of beating the American cracks. In 'matching the Australian with Sullivan, the Americans evidently were of opinion that he was entitled to another chance, for his opponent, known as "Twin Sullivan," was regarded as a topnotcher in his profession. He is Sft 9in high, and for a long time was in the middle-weight division, hut latterly his contests have been in the —_ division. Jack Sullivan and his" brother
