A message from Caps Maria Van Diemen states that the Sydney steamer passed east at 5.30 a_m. to-day, but her signals were indistinguishable. Caffinj reports that tae steamer left Papeete on the return voyage at o p.m. on the 15th, and worked Raiatea, Aitutaki, Atiu, and Mangaia. Arrived at Barotooga at 6 a.m. on the 21st. THE FOSBJEIC. The s-s. Forerie, which is inaugurating the new line of cargo steamers between .San Francisco and. Australasia, arrived at Auckland ats p.ni. on Saturday last, alter a passage of 28 days from the Califo-niar port. The steamer met with ane weather until nearing the New Zealand coast when a strong S.W. gale, with high head" seas, lasting for three days, was encountered, which delayed the vessel considerably. Kaeo, telegraphs from Whakatane as follows: "Landed Whakatane cargo, returning to Omalo and Te Kaha to ship maize. The vessel experienced a hard westerly gale uf eight days' duration in the Bay of Plenty." THE COCNTESS OF RANFDRLT. The schooner Countess of Ranfurly. which was recently purchased from the Government by Messrs Kerr Bros., of Sydney, left Rarotonga on the 3rd inst. for Auckland, and is now about due at this port.
