METHODIST VETERAN'S DEATH.

MELBOURNE, July 24.

The Rev. John Watsford, the "grand old man" of Australian Methodism, died to-day at the age of 97.

[After two years as an assistant master at King's School, Parramatta (where he had been educated, Mr. Watsford entered the Wesleyan Ministry in 1843, and was successively in Fiji, Sydney, Goulburn and Maitland. After further periods in South Australia and in Melbourne, he was appointed general secretary of Home Missions. Mr. WatsfoTd was president of the Australasian Wesleyan Conference in 1871.]
