HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board in committee was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Hon. E. Mrtchelson (chairman). Messrs. McFarlane, Heather. Dacre, W. E. Hutchison, Key&s, Basley, Bradney, Napier, Kneen, and Capt. Mackenzie.

Accounts-—The following accounts were passed for payment: General £2833 7/10, contractors' deposit £10, loan account £1106 0/3.

Devonport Morgue.—A deputation ifom. the Devonport Borough Council waited on the Board -with reference to a site for a morgue at Devonport. It was stated "hat many bodies were picked up on the foreshore, and many accidents had occurred in the dock. The Council, therefore, requested the Harbour Board to provide a site for a morgue inside the dock gates, as this was undoubtedly the best place. It was decided that the Devonport Council be asked to put their request In writing-, the Board to consider it at its next meeting.

Calliope Dock Pier.—lt was decided that the engineer's recommendation, to construct a training pier at CalHope Dock in place of the old one. at a cost of £5230, be adopted, and that the engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications, and call for tenders.

"Water Police Accommodation.—ln regard to the application of Inspector Culien, for accommodation for the water police on the wharf, it was decided to inform the* writer that snitable accommodation wonld be provided, and that the matter wonld be referred to the architect.

Freeman's Bay Allotments.—ln reference to a letter from the Town Clerk, Auckland, asking for a reduction in the rentals of the allotments in Patteson and Beaumont streets, which the Connci! propose to lease, it was decided that the previous decision of the Board in regard to the rental be adhered to. In regard to a letter from Mr J. W. Riedy, concerning some allotments in Freeman's Bay, it was decided to instruct the surveyor to prepare a plan, and to inform Mr Riedy to this effect.

Wharfage on Sand.—lt was decided to inform Mr Coyle and others that wharfage would have to be paid on the sand and shingle landed at the Railway wharf, as formerly.
