The annual meeting of shareholders took place at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Mr. J. Stevenson's office, when, Mr. E. B. Dufaur. presided. The directors' report stated that the prospects of the company are now better than ever they have been since the formation, and that their anticipations as stated in the report dated 18th December, 1906, viz., " -There is every prospect of the coming year's .operations bein" highly successful," and more than confirmed by the present position. The battery now is in full running order, and is at present crushing stone from a block of ore which the manager (Mr. Kennerley)' confidently anticipates will more than pay the liabilities of the company. Of course, until these returns are to hand a few more calls will have *o be made, but there appears to be every prospect of the company ber coming dividend-paying at an early date. The company still holds the unique position of never having had a share forfeite* ior non-payment of a call, thereby proving the confidence of the shareholders in the mine, in accordance with the company's articles of association Messrs. G. A. Gribbin and A. V. Dingle retire from the Board, and being eljofble, offer themselves for re-election. The statement of accounts showed receipts. TAIRTJA TRIUMPH.

The manager telegraphed yesterday afternoon': " Broke down No. 1 reef. Selected 61b. of picked stone. Good dabs of gold showing in general dirt."

MT. ZEEHAN.

The following directors and others interested in the Mt. Zeehan mine returned last night from a visit of inspection to the property, Messrs W. Handley, Angus Gordon, A- T. Forth, B. Owen, E. Cayley, Alexander, F. G. Johnson, W. J. Culpan, and V. Burchex. They express themselves as highly pleased at the developments in the Birthday Reef. It 3 s at present two feet wide in the face, and five cwt. of picked ore has been selected. Samples of ore brought bads from this reef are highly minexalis«»d and should assay Well. Mr. Alexander, when questioned by a "Star" representative, unhesitatingly gave it as his opinion that he can treat the stone sac--cessfully by the Complex Ore refining process. The leader in the banging wall of 'the Birthday reef is now from 2 to 9 inches in width. Samples of ore from this leader brought back by the visitors "are quite as rich as 'those "sent'-iip' for assay by -the manager- last week. Pieces of stone from the leader -were roasted in the smithy fire, and showed .globules of bullion freely.
