MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

MoanataJari Extended.— Very little quartz has been broken in the rise toeing put up on the 23rd of June reef, east of the Middle Star low level. Tnis lode is fully 2mt bin thick, and very Hard to break, and, consequently, it was found that better progress could be made by stripping the mullock off it. A length of about sft Has been stripped, and this will be shot down early next week. TJie country rock eDcastng this lode, although firm, ie of a good description, with numerous mineral veins running through it. Kiiranui.—ln the intermediate level, So. 3 stope on the footwall leader has been extended a- further distance of 13ft, making the total west of the rise 44ft. There is now a reef about 12in wide in the face, which is composed of kindly looking quartz, with a good deal of favourable mineral distributed through It. There is a likelihood of a greater length being accomplished on this stope, as the solid country appears to go beyond the previous etope. In the east end, No. 3 stope had to be stopped for the present, as the mullock from, it was interfering -with the prospecting on the block below, on the footwall branch of Hunt's reef. No. 4 stope has. therefore, been started, and has been driven 7ft east of the rise. The leader in tnis stope looks very well,, some good mineralised stone, in which dabs of coanse gold could be seen, coming to hand at each breaking down. In Hunt's football branch a stope. has been commenced, and has been driven 10ft. The leader juts at present is epllt into two parts, the footwall portion being 3in thick, and ths hangingwall 2in. Both contain some very good mineral, and from their appearance it is not improbable that gold wni be found at any time. In the Shotover shaft level, a distance of 84ft las been cleaned out, and the tram line laid. It Is hoped to have this level, cleaned ont as far as the block we have started to- stop* on Hunt's reef by the end of next week, the dietance yet to he done being. 95ft.

May Queen. —The St. Hippo croescut at No. 5 level has passed through the quartz lode, and is now about 10ft into the country, which is a firm sandstone of a very good description. The lode passed throngh. will, it is supposed, prove to be the St. Hippo (or Nana) lode. It has the same underlie (abont 45 deg.) and about the same strike. It is a promising looking lode, and some of the quartz has shown very favourable classes of mineral. The water is easing off, but there is still a fair stream coming from the face of the drive. Sloping on No. 4 and north-west lodes is in progress as usual, above and below No. 5 level, and about the usual supply of crushing dirt, occasionally showing good colours of gold. is being won. Twenty-tw.o head of stampers are engaged crushing quartz from the mine. ■
