EXCITING ACCIDENT AT WAIHI.
(By TelesraDh. —Own Correspondent.)
WAIHI, this day.
A somewhat serious buggy accident occurred at Waihi on Saturday evening, those involved being a lad named A. Roycroit and Mr Haszard, a well known resident. Mr Haszard had arranged to be driven home, and the lad Eoyeroft was sent in charge of a sulky. Ou reaching Moresby-avenue the horse began kicking, and then bolted, owing to fright of a. paper bag, which blew out from a shop counter, and flapped between the a.nimal's legs. The horse jumped on. to the footpath, and galloped up to the Presbyterian Church, the corner of which was struck by the sulky, the force of the impact smashing the vehicle, and also damaging the church porch. Mr Haszard was unconscious when picked up, but eventually came round, and was driven home, where he was attended to my Dr. Robertson. On inquiry to-day it was ascertained that beyond a severe shock he is all right again. The lad Roycroft sustained a broken wrist. Both occupants had miraculous escapes, as did also a lady who had to jump clear of the bolting horse. , t
