CRITICISMS OF THE GAME.
(Received 9.8 a,m.)
SYDNEY, July 15.
The ''Sydney Morning Herald," referring to Saturday's match, says that the New South Wales team fought magnificently, taking the honours in the first half in scoring a brilliant try. The weight of the opposing team, however, broke its defence to pieces, and, concentrating its splendid manhood, pushed the game three times across the blue champions' goal line, thus amply avenging New South Wales' score in the first half.
The "Herald" considers that the New Zealanders played below their reputation in the first half. This may have been due to the pace of the home team or the lack of vim of the visitors.
The "Daily Telegraph" says: "Without detracting from the merit of the splendid all round performance of the Welshmen, it cannot be claimed on their form on Saturday that the_N-ew Zealand team is equal to some of its predecessors. Maybe there is too much 'All Black' in it. the ghosts of former giants, or that they are clearly below their form, but it is certain that for the greater part of the game there was no fixe in them. If Saturday's display was their bast, then the New Zea.landers will find themselves fighting for their lives for the remainder of the tour. It was their stamina above all that polled them through."
