SCIENCE SITTINGS.
REMARKABLE PREDICTION OF MR. EDISON.
'"One hundred years hence, a horse in a town will be. as much of a curiosity as an old stage coach, and it will be a common sight to see the air navigated by private aero cars, and it will be possible to use the flying machine for commercial purposes. Mail and passengers will he transported over land and sea in this manner, and it will not be a hundred years before that is possible either. Light metals and other materials will solve the problem of aerial navigation, but I " believe electricity will be the motive power, as it is destined to be the great force of the future. ELECTRIC SHOCK WITHOUT CONTACT. Can an electric shock be received without contact? Among American electricians, at least, there is a theory that a shock is quite possible under such circumstances, even at a distance of four feet. A jury at Chicago has given a verdict based upon the accuracy of this theory, and the judges have not hesitated to give effect to the judgment. A girl of ten years named Ruth Bostrom was alleged to have lost her sight from electric shock without aonta*t, and the judges entered judgment for £4000 damages awarded by the jury.
