AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Though in its third season in Auckland, " Mocsieur Beaucaire " appears to be still tiie strongest attraction in the repertory of Mr. J. C. Williamson's company. There was another crowded audii ence last night, and Mr. Julius Knight's charming impersonation won from the large audience the most unstinted marks of approval. The final performance of the season will be given to-night. OPERA HOUSE. Fuller's Vaudeville will resume their season to-night. Mr. Percy Denton, end man and tenor vocalist, will jnake his first appearance, as will Athas, a trick and fancy skater; Mr. Clarence Tisdale, an. American tenor; and Miss Hilda Lane, soprano. Miss Beattie Macdonajd, an Auckiand serio, and Mr. Al L. Cropp, the popular basso, will reappear. Klaers' dogs and monkeys, Nellie Power, Keldie and Da-vis, and B6b Lloyd will also appear. Some new biograph films -will be shown. MARITANA. There was again a crowded audience at the Opera House last evening to witness the -fourth production of William's opera '•' Maritana " by St. Patrick's Operatic Society.

The performance again proved very successful and the players showed to even better advantage than during the previous three nights much of the uneasiness of delivery natural to amateurs having disappeared. Miss Rosina Buckmann resumed the title role, and gave a most artistic rendering of the part. The present season of " Maritana " -was closed by a matinee this afternoon. GRAND OPERA SEASON. The "Melbourne Argus," in its notice of the' opening performance of Mr. Geo. Musgrove's. grand opera company at Melbourne, in Wagner's '"Lohengrin," said: * If one may form a definite opinion from the remarkable success of the first ' production, Mr. Musgrove has shown sound- judgment in the selection of his artists, given them the ample support of an efficient chorus and orchestra, and in addition mounted his first production with a lavish hand, all the more praiseworthy since grand operas, unlike melodramas and musical. .comedies, have not a happy- knack of enjoying a long ' run. There was a magnificent audience. Few, if any, finer have been seen i in Melbourne, and the event will be .remembered -in association with great first, nights, such as -when Bernhardt and Melba appeared . .At ,t3ie;j Princess's, - ; or Here Slapeffski .(mnsisal mas

■welcomed as he emerged from below and took; Ms place at the conductor's stand iir th.c first burst of applause." The Auckland season, commencing on Monday, 22nd inst.; -will only be extended over twelve nights with two matinee performances in the interim. The box plan will be opened on Monday next, and seats can be reserved for any night during the season. O'NEILL'S BUGKJDMPERS. Another crowded audience witnessed the performance of O'Neill's buckjumpers at Freeman's Bay last night. The entertainment was again very popular, and the exhibitions cf bareback riding and bttckjumping by the O'Neul brothers brought forth unstinted applause. Two riders •entered ior the £1 a minute competition, aid stuck to their mounts creditably, although they failed to merit the prize. Seven others were thrown with surprising suddenness, to the great amusement of the onlookers. A silver cup is offered for competition during this evening's entertainments. The competition is open to local and country riders, and already over 20 people have informed the management that they intend to compete. Mr A. Kohn will act as timekeeper.
