MR. KEIR HARDIE
BECOMING A FSEELAIfCE. SINGULAR MESSAGE TO HINDUS. (Received 8.5S a-m.) LONDON, July 12. Mr. Keir Hardie, speaking in Manchester, said he intended to decline reelection to the chairmanship of the Labour party, as he would do better work for the Socialists as a freelance. During his coming tour (which includes Australia) Mr. Keir Hardie intends telling the Hindus that the Socialists are anxious that justice should be done them, and that the working I classes desire home rule for India.
[Mr. Keir Hardie threatened resignation of the chairmanship (to which he was elected in February, 1906) a few months ago as a consequence of the Labour party's refusal to make the women's franchise a vital point in its present policy. His encouragement of the Hindus recalls his support of the Zulus against the British last year,]
