GOULD DIVORCE SUIT.

BRIBED DKTKCTIVES. Amazing revelations as to the corruption prevailing among the New York police are promised as the result of Mrs. Howard tioulds suit for a judicial separation from her millionaire husband. The lady is claiming £1000 a week alimony. Mrs. Gould declares that her husbajul bribed detectives to shadow her and to manufacture evidence that might be used agaiDst her in a projected action f or divorce. This ie corroborated by Coloael Cody ("Bulfalo Bill"), under whose auspices Mrs. Gould (who -was before her marriage Misa KatHrya Clemmons) made her debut as an actress at the Fifth-avenue theatre in 1597 "Buffalo Bill" asserts that Mr. Gould's agents offered him a large bribe to give evidence damaging to Mrs. Gould's character. According to Mrs. Gonld she had been aj lt ,oyed by detectives since last Jnne this showing that Mr. Gould .was haTins her shadowed three months before he separated from her. She also asserts that many of her letters were opened and re-sealed wnila she traced others wh.»h were not delivered to her. She was ateo warnea, she says, that she should be careful about what she ate, as there was a plot to poison her Further, Mrs Gould states that Abe Hnmmel, the notorious la.wyer, who is now in gaol, wrote saying he wonld be able to stop the police persecution if she gave her case into his hands. This offer was declined Police-commissioner Bingham and Depu-ty-commissioner Hanson are making an investigation of Mrs. Gould's charges against the police, in which Mayor McClellan is kef-nly interested.

When the Investigation was bejnn exInspector McLaughlin, who told off detectives to shadow Mrs. Gould, was asfied to testify. He replied that he was ill Commissioner Bingham promptly assigned detectivee to watch McLaughlin's house and the espionage resulted in an application, from McDaughlin to be retired on half-pay As no charges had yet been formulated against MeLanghlin. who has been in the service 33 years, there was nothing for Commissioner Bingham to do but consent and McLanghlin consequently became a private citizen with a pension of £500 a year If it is found taat his conduct has violated statutes he will fee prosecuted it ia also reported that Li enteilant Peabody who acted under Mclaughlin's orders, intends to resign.
