Mr. W. Dick, formerly of the Union Company's series, has joined the steamEr Pondo as chief engineer.
Dr. J. S. Purdy, District Health Officer, and Dr. Pomare, Native Health Officer, will visit Rawene on Monday in connection with the outbreak of fever there.
Mr. Robertson, late second officer of the Warrimoo, has joined the Wanaka as chief officer. Mr. Poster, who has been acting chief officer of the Wanaka, has joined the Takapuna as chief officer. Among those on whom the Companionship of the Imperial Service Order has been bestowed is Mr. J. Langford, late Registrar of the Supreme Court, iFiji, Curator of Intestate Estates, and Chief Police Magistrate, who is at present residing in Hamilton.
Mr. J. R. Carlsen. who has been employed as dispenser at the Veterans' iHome for "the past three years, was presented yesterday with a handsome silver inkstand with the following inscription; —" Presented to. Mr. J. R. Carlsen as a mark of esteem from Captain and Mrs. Archer and sons."
