WAIHI CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY.
■MEETING OF SHAREHOIiDEB-*. WAIHI, this day. A meeting of the shareholders of the Wadhi Co-operative Society was held last night. The meeting was closed to the Press, but the proceedings are reported to have been very stormy. Eventually resolutions were passed to the effect that it was to the best interest of the co-operative people at Waihi to make every endeavour to raise tho necessary amount of capital to make the creditors an acceptable offer, and retain the business as a going concern, failing which the shareholders were determined, with the aid of new capital subscribed to form a new society, and, profiting by past experience, to build up . a genuine co-operative society on a sounder foundation. It is understood | that an effort is to be made to raise. about _* 1500, and to offer creditors 10/ , in the £. ... .
