The Drunkards. —Lucy Maekie, a ro . hibiied woman, was lined 10/ and costs or 46 hour: for drunkenness, and £2 or fine month in gaol for breaking the terms of her prohibition. William Hennessey was lined ill or seven days for drunkenness, and £_. in delault one month, for procuring liquor while prohibited, the terms to be cumulative. It was stated that the complainant was in I'ellwood-avemie when the dog rushed at him. lie denied having kicked the 'log or provoked it in any way. A boy who was standing uear said he saw the dog rush at Welsh. About three weeks ago it seized hold of witness' trousers. | His Worship convicted the defendant, fining him ±: 1 and costs 211. The By-Laws.—T.tos. Philcox and Sons, who were represented "by Mr. Alexander, were lined 10/ and costs 7/ for failing to keep a fence in Albert-street sufficiently lighted between sunset and sunrise. Similar lines were inflicted on Thos. Allison and John Irvine for minor breaches of the by-laws. Noxious Weeds. —Ebenear Gibbons, who pleaded guilty some time ago to a breach of the Noxious Weeds Act. did not appear this morning, and was fined ill and costs, as the ease whs not a very bad one. Klizabe-th Wannoll was also charged with failing to keep her land at Takapuna clear of noxious weeds to the satisfaction of the inspector. Sic had been served with five notices, and had had numerous visits from officers. His Worship said the defendant must comply with the law. and he hoped tins would be a warning to her. A fine of £1 and £2j lb/ costs was imposed. j Bound Over.—Leopold Muir. a young man. who was arrested at Onehunga .some time ago armed with a loaded revolver, alter threatening to shoot a certain lady in Auckland, was bound over to keep the pence for twelve months in his own bond of £50, and two sureties of H2"i each. Breach of Prohibition;— Kate McManus was fined 10/ and costs, or 48 hours for drunkenness, and £.2 or one month for "breaking the terms of her prohibition. Illegal Gum Buying.—Francisco R. Fegueira. who was defended by Mr. Moore, wa-s charged on four inforuia- j tions with buying gum from Wm. Lilly I and John Robertson, such persons not J being the owner or occupier of native i or other land or the holder of a special or ordinary license under the Kauri Gum ! Industr3" Act. Constable .Grady, in his evidence in support of the charges, described tin- people digging gum for the defendant at Henderson, 'as the worst characters in Auckland. It was contended for the defence that as the gum was dug on the defendant's land, he could not buy his own gum. I Obscene Language. —Frederick Court- j nev. who was represented by Mr. Singer, pleaded guilty to having used obscene ; language on "the Ellerslie racecourse on j June 1. Mr. Sharpies appeared for the prosecution, and the defenikint was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.

Rue. two youths, were charged with having committed indecent acts "in Elliott-street, were defended byMr. Hackett. The defendants were residents in the country, and had erred through ignorance of the locality. His j Worship cautioned the boys against any, repetition of the offence, and convicted and ordered them to come up for sentence when called upon. j Obstructing the Police—A young man waa charged" with obstructing Constable Carroll in the execution of his duty. It, was stated that the defendant caught hold of a man who was being arrested and tried to pull him away. His Worship mtiicted a fine of £3 and costs or 14 days' imprisonment. Remanded. —A thirteen-year-old boy named Alexander YVillctts was remanded on bail until Friday ou a charge ; of stealing a dinghey worth f 5 belonging' to Frank J. Turner. j Maintenance. —John Joseph Gallagher was ordered to pay 17/6 per week towards the support of his mother.
